New Delhi, Mar 12: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is likely to release the admit cards for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) 2018 Main this week.

An official notification of the JEE Main says, “The admit cards can be downloaded from JEE (Main) website from the second week of March 2018. A help desk will also be functional on all working days from 9.00 am to 5.30 pm for general facilitation. The phone numbers of the help desk are available on the website of JEE (Main).”

So it would be a good idea to keep an eye on the official website.

Speculations are also rife that the CBSE would release admit cards anytime after the Mathematics board exam, scheduled for March 21. Candidates who have registered for the JEE examination need to download their admit cards from the official website of jeemain.nic.in.

JEE is held every year for admissions to various technical institutions across the country. It is held in two stages; in the first stage, CBSE conducts the main exam and in the second stage, various IITs conduct the advanced examination.

The JEE Main 2018 exam, in the pen-paper (offline) mode, will take place on April 8 and in the online mode, it will be conducted on April 15 and 16.

As per the JEE Main 2018 website, the Ministry of Human Resource Development has notified two changes in the exam pattern from 2017:

1.There would be no weightage to class 12 marks in calculating the ranks,

2. For candidates to qualify for admission in the IITs/NITs/IIITs and such institutes where admissions are based on the JEE (Advanced)/JEE(Main) ranks, they should have secured at least 75% marks in the class 12 examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the class 12 examination conducted by their respective board. For SC/ST students, the qualifying marks would be 65% in class 12 examination.

The notification also says that Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttrakhand, Nagaland, Odisha & some other institutions have joined JEE (Main) system. However, their admission criteria will be notified by the authorities concerned. Therefore, candidates seeking admission to the institutions in these states should also fill the JEE (Main)–2018 application form online.
