JEE Main 2019: The JEE Main 2019 exam began on Tuesday. This year, the exam for admission to NIT, IIT and other engineering institutions is being held online. On Day 1, Tuesday, as many as 11 lakh students would be part of the process, said reports.
This year, National Testing Agency has organised the exam. This year, two major changes have been made to JEE Mains examination, suggest reports. The first change pertains to ranking of students. For the ranking of students, their NTA score would be taken into account. This NTA score would be arrived at after calculating a candidate’s percentile from the total of his marks obtained at all stages. This way, the ranking of candidates would be arrived at. In case two candidates have the same percentile, the one with a higher percentile in Maths, Physics and Chemistry would be considered to be at a higher percentile.
If two candidates still get the same percentile, the older candidate would be considered to have a higher percentile.
The other big change would be in format. While the exam is now completely online, it would be held twice in 2019; in January and in April. Candidates would have the option of appearing for both or either exams. Both the times, the exam would be held on 14 days and there would be multiple sessions each day. This is meant to curb foul play and cheating, said reports.
