Who is Uday Krishna Reddy, and where does he come from?

Uday Krishna Reddy has faced many challenges throughout life. He lost his mother when he was five years old, and, not long afterward, even his father passed away. At that point, it was his grandmother who was taking care of him. It was a difficult time for the family, as they certainly had financial problems. His grandmother worked as a vegetable vendor. She thought that completing 10th grade was enough for life. However, she never let Uday go without love or education and was very supportive at every turn, growing up.

What challenges did he face in his childhood?

Uday had originally aspired to be a doctor and reportedly even pursued studies as a medical lab technician, but his family had significant financial challenges that prevented him from following that route. It would have been easy to give up, but he was determined to improve his family situation. Therefore, he studied concurrently as he prepared for a government job, and ultimately, he was chosen as a police constable – this was the beginning of what would become a wonderful journey.

How did he overcome humiliation in his police job?

While the role of police constable was decent, it did not bring Uday the respect he deserved. Uday served with the Andhra Pradesh Police from 2013 – 2018. Reports indicated that in 2018, an insult from his senior officer affected him deeply. Soon, he handed in his resignation immediately thereafter. His Circle Inspector (CI) supposedly embarrassed him in front of about 60 other officers. Upon reflecting on what happened, Uday developed a strong resolve to pass the UPSC exam and change his career.
