Indian techies are a dominant force in the global tech landscape, and while a major portion of these successful engineers often come from the country’s top colleges like the various Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), NIT, or IIM, there are scores of young geniuses from lower tiered schools who land high-paying jobs with global tech giants.

One such individual is Akhil Singh, a young software engineer from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, who secured a record-setting salary package of Rs 1.12 crore at Rubrik– a US-based cloud data management and data security firm.

Who is Akhil Singh?

Born and raised in UP’s Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad), Akhil Singh is an up and coming web developer, who busted the popular myth that only alumnus of top colleges like IITs, IIMs or NIT can hope to land a high-paying job at a top tech company. After completing his early education, Akhil joined the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Allahabad, where he earned his B.Tech degree in Information Technology in 2022.

Akhil Singh began his professional career as an associate intern at Samsung R&D Institute in Bengaluru, while he was in his final year at IIIT Allahabad. Following the 3-month internship at Samsung, Akhil completed his graduation and joined Rubrik as a software intern, which ultimately led to him being hired as a full-time engineer after a 7-month internship.

The young engineer was offered an astounding Rs 1.12 crore annual salary package, which is quite rare for someone not coming from an IIT, NIT or IIM. Akhil has also worked as a junior web developer trainee at IIIT Allahabad when he was in his second year at the institution.

Today, Akhil Singh has been working as a software engineer at Rubrik for the past four years, and serves as an inspirations to millions of young engineers from lower tiered colleges who aspire to build a successful career.
