Farah Hussain, originally from Nawa village in Jhunjhunu, grew up in a family with a strong tradition of public service within the Kayamkhani Muslim community, renowned for its legacy of administrative roles in central and northern Rajasthan. Surrounded by relatives in prominent government positions, she was inspired early on to embark on a similar journey. Her father, Ashfaq Hussain, held the position of District Collector, while her elder brother is a practicing lawyer at the Rajasthan High Court. With many other family members in esteemed roles, Farah was naturally encouraged to follow in their footsteps.

Farah Hussain pursued her law at Government Law College in Mumbai and began her career as a criminal lawyer. However, her deep-rooted passion for public service motivated her to aspire to become an IAS officer, continuing the legacy of her father and family. At present, more than 14 members of her extended family hold prestigious government positions. Notable among them are her uncle, Liaquat Khan, a former IPS officer and chairman of the Waqf Board, and her father, Ashfaq Hussain, who served as an IAS officer and special secretary in the education department.

Farah Hussain comes from a family with a remarkable legacy in public service. Her uncle, Zakir Khan, serves as an IAS officer and the current district collector of Sriganganagar, while her cousin, Shaheen Khan, holds a senior role as an RAS officer. Other prominent members of her family include Monica, a DIG in the jail department; Shakib Khan, a Brigadier in the Indian Army, and Colonel Ishrat Khan. Farah herself is currently stationed in Jodhpur, where she continues to serve the nation with unwavering dedication and pride.

Farah successfully cleared the UPSC exam in her second attempt in 2015 at the age of 26, securing an All India Rank (AIR) of 267. Interestingly, Aslam Khan was the first Muslim to be accepted into the all-India services after that.

She became the second Muslim woman to reportedly clear the UPSC exam without coaching in her second attempt, securing an impressive All India Rank (AIR) 267.
