About UPSC civil services exam

The civil services exam, conducted by the UPSC, is one of the toughest exams not only in the country but in the world. Every year, lakhs of candidates appear but only a handful of them actually clear the exam and become officers.

Why Garima chose UPSC over family business

Garima Agarwal was a very bright student from the beginning. She had in her mind that she wanted to create her own identity instead of running the family business. Garima completed her initial studies from Saraswati Vidya Mandir of Khargone, and after that, she cleared the JEE exam and got admission in IIT Hyderabad. After completing her degree, she went to Germany for internship but time had other things written for her.

How Garima Agarwal cleared UPSC CSE exam twice

After completing her internship in Germany, Garima returned to India and studied for the UPSC exam for about 1.5 years. In 2017, Garima Agrawal achieved an AIR of 240 in the UPSC CSE exam, leading to her selection for the Indian Police Service (IPS). However, she was not satisfied with this outcome and continued her preparation for the UPSC exam despite her IPS appointment.

Garima received training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Police Academy in Hyderabad while also pursuing her studies. In 2018, she retook the exam and improved her performance, securing the 40th rank, which allowed her to realize her ambition of becoming an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. Currently, Garima Agrawal serves as the Assistant District Magistrate in Telangana.
