After clearing the UPSC exam, successful candidates are sent to LBSNAA in Mussoorie for IAS training. This training goes on for several months, during which the trainee officers often become good friends. Sometimes, these friendships even turn into love stories. Something similar happened with Dr. Nagarjun B. Gowda and Srushti Deshmukh.
Both of them cleared the 2018 UPSC Civil Services Exam and became IAS officers in 2019. Today, the IAS couple is loved by many. Srushti is hugely popular on Instagram with over 2.4 million followers, while her husband, Dr. Nagarjun, is also well-known, with more than 414,000 followers. Here’s a look at how educated this power couple is and what ranks they achieved in the UPSC exam.
Dr. Nagarjun B. Gowda IAS hails from a small village in Karnataka. He completed his early schooling in a local community school. After completing schooling, IAS Nagarjuna Gowda earn his MBBS degree in Medicine and Surgery from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences before becoming an IAS. It was during his tenure as a resident in a hospital that he embarked on his UPSC IAS exam preparation journey.
On the other hand, IAS Srushti Deshmukh is from Madhya Pradesh. She scored an impressive 93% in her Class 12 exams and later pursued a degree in Chemical Engineering (BE) from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, becoming an engineer.
While completing his MBBS, Dr. Nagarjun also started preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Exam. After his degree, he worked as a resident doctor in a hospital but never lost sight of his ultimate goal—becoming an IAS officer. In the 2018 UPSC CSE, he achieved the 418th rank and fulfilled his dream.
IAS Srushti Deshmukh passed the UPSC civil service exam on her first attempt in the year 2018. She had secured 5th rank in the exam and had become the topper among women candidates that year. Srishti had secured 895 marks in the UPSC Mains exam and 173 marks in the interview, totaling 1068.
The two met during training at the Civil Service Training Academy LBSNAA or Lal Bahadur Shastri Training Academy. This IAS couple got engaged in 2021 and tied the knot in 2022. After completing their IAS training, Srushti Deshmukh was allotted the Madhya Pradesh cadre, while Dr. Nagarjun Gowda was posted in the Karnataka cadre.
After their wedding, Dr. Nagarjun applied for a cadre transfer and successfully moved to Madhya Pradesh to be with his wife. At present, Dr. Nagarjun Gowda serves as the CEO of the Khandwa District Panchayat, while IAS Srushti Deshmukh holds the position of CEO of the Burhanpur District Panchayat.
