In 2017, Kalpit Veerwal made history with his outstanding performance in the JEE Main exam. Hailing from Udaipur, Rajasthan, he secured a perfect score of 360 out of 360, earning the top rank and a place in the Limca Book of Records. While this achievement was remarkable, for Kalpit, it was just the beginning of a new journey. Instead of chasing high-paying jobs after graduating from a prestigious institution, he chose to start his own venture. Today, his startup helps millions of students in their exam preparations.

A humble beginning in Udaipur

Kalpit came from a modest background rather than a wealthy family. His father, Pushkar Lal, worked as a compounder at Maharana Bhupal Government Hospital in Udaipur, while his mother, Pushpa Veerwal, was a school teacher. Education was always a priority in their household, and Kalpit fully benefited from this supportive environment.

Choosing self-study over Kota coaching

Unlike many JEE aspirants who move to Kota for coaching, Kalpit stayed in his hometown. He balanced school, self-study, and coaching classes with a disciplined routine. He wasn’t one of those students who studied for 16 hours a day, but he made the most of his study time by focusing on efficiency rather than long hours.

Excelled in Olympiads too

In a 2017 interview with PTI, Kalpit Veerwal mentioned, “I didn’t study for 15 hours a day, nor did I follow the usual ‘Kota route’ for IIT preparation. But regular and focused study helped me a lot.”

Apart from his JEE success, Kalpit was among the top students in several national Olympiads. He was also a Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) scholar and a recipient of the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) scholarship.

Journey from IIT Bombay to YouTube

After cracking JEE, Kalpit joined the Computer Science program at IIT Bombay. While most students focus on graduation, placements, and high-paying jobs, he had a different mindset. His goal was to earn enough so that he never had to rely on placements.

During his second year at IIT, Kalpit started a YouTube channel to share his study strategies and JEE preparation tips. His practical and unique approach stood out from traditional coaching methods, making his content highly popular among students.

In 2019, his YouTube channel AcadBoost crossed 100,000 subscribers, earning him a Silver Play Button from YouTube. This milestone further boosted his confidence.

Dropped out of IIT to focus on his startup

By the final year of his graduation, AcadBoost had become profitable. Realizing its potential, Kalpit made a bold decision—he dropped out of IIT Bombay one semester before completing his degree to focus entirely on his startup.

His dedication paid off. By 2021, LinkedIn featured him in their Top Voices list, where he was the youngest among 20 outstanding young professionals. He also shared his journey—from being a perfect scorer in JEE to becoming an entrepreneur—on the TEDx stage.
