Conducted twice a year, the Joint Entrance Examination(JEE) is regarded as one of the toughest exams in India. Every year, thousands of aspirants from all over the country sit for the examination in order to get admission in top engineering colleges. In this story, we will discuss the inspirational story of Pranav Goyal, who hails from Chandigarh, topped the JEE Advanced 2018 exam.

The son of a businessman, Pranav, topped the JEE Advanced 2018 by scoring 337 out of 360 — an estimated 99.9993 percentile. He belonged to the Roorkee Zone. Hailing from Chandigarh, he had already demonstrated exceptional academic prowess by earning a perfect 10 CGPA in Class 10 and topping the CBSE Class 12 non-medical stream in Tricity (Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali). His achievements continued with an outstanding All India Rank (AIR) 4 in JEE Main 2018.

Pranav, the son of pharmaceutical business owners, studied at Bhavan Vidyalaya in Sector 15, Panchkula. According to his LinkedIn profile, Pranav successfully cleared the final stage of the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) in 2016, earning a prestigious scholarship from the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT), India. In addition, he scored 350 marks out of 360 in JEE Mains, securing AIR 4. After topping JEE Mains and JEE Advanced, Pranav took admission at IIT Bombay and pursued a BTech in Computer Science. Pranav was honored with the Institute Academic Award in 2020 for his outstanding performance during the second year of his B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Bombay.

“I am a Quantitative Trader at Jane Street where I work on developing and testing a variety of trading ideas in a variety of derivative exchanges around the world. I graduated from IIT Bombay with a Bachelors (Honors) in Computer Science in 2022. I try to explore as much as possible of high frequency, low frequency, and even long term trades across multiple markets,” reads his LinkedIn bio.

Pranav worked as a Data Analyst Intern at Vedantu from June 2019 to July 2019. Later in 2o2o, Pranav interned as an Application Developer at Albia Biocare, a pharmaceutical company in Chandigarh.

Pranav worked as a Research Intern at the Technical University of Braunschweig, where he engaged in advanced research, data analysis, and problem-solving in his field of study.

In 2021, Pranav worked as a Trading Intern at Jane Street, where he gained hands-on experience in quantitative trading, market analysis, and risk management.

Pranav is currently working as a Quantitative Trader at Jane Street in Hong Kong SAR since July 2022, specializing in high-frequency trading, market-making, and quantitative strategies.
