This is the story of a man who cracked the JEE, secured admission to IIT Bombay, and landed a high-paying job at one of America’s top companies—yet he left it all to become a monk.
Sanket Parekh, an IIT Bombay graduate and chemical engineer, was working in a top US company. one day he chose to leave his high-paying job and luxurious lifestyle to embrace spirituality. This major decision came as a shocker for his parents and friends, as he decided to renounce worldly pleasures at the age of 29, after achieving everything he desired.
Sanket left everything that anyone have desired in the life. His previous life is a dream for most of the students.
Sanket, who was an atheist, made a decision that drastically changed his life. He chose the path of spirituality by taking Jain Diksha in 2013. During an online chat, he delved into philosophical topics, sparking his interest in understanding the soul, mind, and body. Inspired by this, Sanket left his luxurious lifestyle behind and started exploring Jainism.
Sanket spent two and a half years learning the principles and rituals of the faith under the guidance of Acharya Yugbhushansurji.
During an interview with new outlet The Times of India, Sanket said, “I was an atheist. If I had chosen to pursue a career, I would have achieved everything, but I would never have found the inner peace I have today.”
Sanket shared that, although he did not specify his precise salary, he was contributing an annual income tax of Rs 12 lakh, as reported by TOI. Following the loss of his father a few years ago, Sanket faced difficulties in persuading his mother regarding his decision. Nevertheless, after clarifying that this route was the only one that could genuinely make him happy, his mother ultimately came to terms with his choice.
