Jul. 6, 2017: National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET 2017 Counselling Dates have been revised after the Supreme Court has acceded to the MCI plea regarding the extension. The apex court, yesterday had agreed to the request made by the Medical Counsel of India. As  per the MCI, the delay in the results of NEET 2017 due to the interim court order placed on CBSE by Madras High Court has had a cascading effect on the dates of the counselling as well. Earlier the results were expected to be released on June 8. However, the same were delayed till Supreme Court intervened, letting CBSE finally release the NEET 2017 Results on June 23. As a result, MCC, or the Medical Counselling Committee responsible for All India Quota admissions to NEET qualified candidates has not had any time. Students to kind note that the Supreme Court has allowed extension of dates for counselling of students who have cleared the NEET exam to join medical and dental courses across the country by accepting the plea of Medical Council of India (MCI). The Medical Council of India MCC has not yet released the revised dates for the counselling for the medical entrance exam MBBS and BDS courses. As per the latest update the Supreme court gave  MCI  permission to complete the admission process for MBBS course by August 28 and admission in the dental course by September 10.

The decision to revise the dates have been taken by bench of Justices Dipak Misra and N.V. Ramana. The main reason for the extension of the counselling has been due to the fact the results were announced later than the scheduled date. The Madras High Court has issued a verdict stating that the Central Board of Secondary CBSE  had not prepared uniform question papers were not given and there was a vast difference between the English and Tamil question papers. There were also demands that the NEET 2017 exam would be cancelled and a fresh examination for NEET 2017 be held with uniform question papers across the country.

The year the  results of NEET 2017 was declared on  June 23 at the official website. The reason cited for the delay in declaring  the results, by the counsel which was done due to delay in announcement of the result, the counselling could not be done as per the schedule fixed earlier by the apex court. The apex court had earlier stayed the high court’s order.  As per the official website, the declaration of result as well as subsequent counselling and admission through NEET 2017.
