Jul 21, 2017: NEET 2017 Counseling is underway for State Quota Seats. Following the same, Universities in the states are now carrying out admissions. However, it was noted that the fees under the State Quota Seats are being hiked. In view of the exorbitant fees demanded by the medical institutes, the department of medical education and research (DMRE) has directed the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot to fill management quota seats. It has become a practice for the medical colleges to charge more than Rs 2.2 lakh per annum for a government quota seat while the cap for a management quota seat is Rs 6.6 lakh. The management quota seat is Rs 6.6 lakh.
In a recent development, DMRE has asked it to enforce the Punjab Private Health Sciences Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission, Fixation of Fee and Making of Reservation) Act, 2006. As per the act, university officials of private institutes will not be able to charge the desirous fee from candidates, and the government has the power to regulate fee. The DMRE has instructed to fill management category quota seat of Punjab Private Health Sciences Educational Institutions. The annual fee for the government quota seats will be Rs 2.2 lakh.
The eligibility of general candidates will be verified on July 22 and 23. The verification of SC and BC candidates will be done at respective colleges. The verification will also be done between July 24 and 31. Earlier the Kerala Private Medical College Management Association office bearers had also asked the government to increase the fee structure for Management and NRI Quota. It is important to note the fees for 20 BPL, SEBC seats is Rs 25,000 and for the remaining 30 seats in government quota, the fee is Rs 2.5 lakh. The fee for 35 seats in management quota is Rs 11 lakh and for 15% NRI quota seats, it is Rs 15 lakh. It is important to note that the candidates for 85% seats of MBBS/BDS in Punjab under NEET-2017, that the verification of documents submitted by the candidates online is already under process. The candidates who have not uploaded their 10+1 and 10+2 Detail marks certificates are required to upload immediately latest by July 22, 2017 till 9 am. In Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath has regularised the fees of over 35 medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh. The fee for BDS programmes is now, 1.37 lakh to 3.65 lakhs. The NEET counselling 2017 was commenced from July 3, 2017. Only NEET qualified candidates will appear in the counselling process. Candidates will need to register themselves in the counselling process to confirm their seats in MBBS/BDS course & colleges. The counselling result for Round 1 has been declared on July 15, 2017. For the medical aspirants they would need to report at the Allotted Medical/Dental College till July 22, 2017. The counselling for NEET 2017 had commenced on July 16, 2017. The result for (Round 2) for seat allotment will be announced on August 8th, 2017.
