CBSE has released the NEET 2017 Official Notification as well as the Online Application Forms on the official website cbseneet.nic.in. The notification released few hours ago details the requirements of the candidates and also mandated the present of Aadhar Card. What it simply means is that in case a student wishes to apply for NEET 2017 examination, then she/he would be required to have a valid Aadhar Card. The form also lists out other important changes that have been made in the NEET 2017. The eligibility criteria for applying to NEET have also been slightly modified. These changes have been listed out earlier as well by means of various notifications. Students and parents should note that Aadhar Card has been made mandatory by CBSE for all the examinations conducted by the board. This also includes the JEE Main Examinations. The date for NEET 2017 has been finally fixed on May 7, 2017. Apart from this, the notification also restricts the number of attempts to three. Candidates should be an Indian Resident. Non Resident Indians (NRI’s), Overseas Citizen of India (OCI’s), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO’s) & Foreign Nationals are also eligible for appearing in the NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (UG), 2017.
Candidates should be a minimum of 17 years of age at the time of admission or by 31 December 2017. This time an upper age limit has also been set for candidates at 25 years. There is a relaxation in upper age limit for reserved categories of SC/ST/OBC of 5 years.
Only 3 Attempts
Candidates would be allowed only to attempt the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test three times. This is inclusive and applies to all category of students.
The candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Bio-technology at the qualifying examination. In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology taken together in qualifying examination be 40% instead of 50% for General candidates. Further, for persons for locomotor disability of lower limbs, the minimum of 45% marks for General-PH and 40% marks for SC-PH/ST-PH/OBC-PH are required. Those who are appearing in Class XII examination in 2017 can also appear for the entrance test provisionally subject to their fulfilling the conditions later.
