Union human resource development (HRD) minister Prakash Javadeker has announced that question papers of NEET 2018 language papers will be similar. He announced that in 2018, the vernacular papers of NEET 2018 will just be the translation of the question paper in English. In 2017, there were controversy regarding the regional question papers. There were allegations regarding the difficulty level of NEET question papers. For the year 2017, CBSE had set different sets of questions for students appearing for the examination in different languages. Regarding the When asked by the HRD ministry why different sets of questions had been set, CBSE — the examination conducting body — had cited security problems given the sheer number of candidates and the large number of languages involved if it resorted to translations.
The HRD ministry also announced that from next year, there will be mere translation of papers so that such problems do not arise,” Javadekar said.
