NEET UG Hearing 2024 LIVE: The Supreme Court on Thursday will hear a batch of petitions alleging paper leakage and malpractices in the National Eligibility Entrance Test- Undergraduate exam, held on May 5 this year. A bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra will hear the case on July 18. Earlier on July 15, the apex court adjourned the hearing for Thursday to enable the petitioners to file their responses to the affidavits filed by the Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA). Solicitor General Tushar Mehta says there were 7 paper solvers and they demarcated 25 questions each, ANI reported.
CJI says the whole hypothesis that within 45 minutes there was a breach and the entire paper was solved and given to students seems very far-fetched.

So, it was not to bring disrepute to the exam and somebody was doing it to make money which is evident now. Mass leakage of paper requires contacts also at that level so that you connect to all such key contacts in different cities etc. Anybody who is making money out of it won’t circulate it mass scale.

He says evidence from Telegram videos shows that the solved papers were being circulated on May 4, ANI reported. Given the nature of social media, it is impossible to accurately determine the exact spread of the leaked papers and the beneficiaries.

Petitioners’ counsel says a trunk was transported on an open e-rickshaw to Oasis school in Hazaribagh where the school principal received this trunk. The sealed trunk was delivered to him and not to any bank, ANI reported.
Counsel says there is a systemic failure in conducting the NEET-UG exam by NTA, this failure is multi-dimensional.
Counsel says the transportation of question papers got compromised when for 6 days the papers were in the hands of a private courier company and the papers were being transportated in an e-rickshaw in Hazaribagh. Instead of taking it to the bank, the driver took it to the Oasis school.

NTA says in the name of corrections, students change centres and 15,000 students utilised the window for corrections, ANI reported.
NTA tells Supreme Court that students can change only the city and no candidate can choose the centre. Centre is alloted by the system. Centre’s allotment is only two days before the exam, so nobody knows which centre is going to be allotted.

Any order for conducting the NEET-UG 2024 afresh has to be on the concrete footing that the sanctity of the entire exam was affected, the Supreme Court said on Thursday.
A bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud and justices JB Pardiwla and Manoj Misra commenced the crucial hearing on a batch of petitions related to the controversy-ridden medical entrance exam NEET-UG 2024, saying that it has “social ramifications”.
The top court adjourned the cases listed ahead of the NEET-UG pleas and said, “We will open the case today. Lakhs of young students are waiting for this, let us hear and decide.”
