Odisha, Nov 3: The Supreme Court on Friday ruled that technical education in subjects like engineering cannot be provided through correspondence courses. The apex court rejected an Odisha high court’s verdict which allowed technical education in the distance education mode.

The Supreme Court also affirmed the findings of the Punjab and Haryana high court on the same issue. Two years ago, the Punjab and Haryana high court had ruled that a degree in ‘computer science’ can not be considered equal to a degree obtained by attending regular classes.
