Around 8619 posts of Constables (4403 Male & 4216 Female) and 1120 posts of Sub-Inspectors (819 Male & 301 Female) are there in the Railway Protection Force/Railway Protection Special Force. Candidates applying for the post of Constable RPF posts should have passed class 10 and should be aged between 18-25 years. Upper age relaxation will be applicable for the reserved category candidates. The candidates applying will have to clear written, medical and physical test. Around 1.2 lakh positions related to safety are reportedly lying vacant. The additional hiring of ground-level workers, which may cost Rs 4,000 crore a year, aims to strengthen safety infrastructure.
