The Union Public Service Commission conducts the civil services examination to recruit candidates for the posts of IAS, IPS, IFS, and other positions. The civil services exam is considered one of the toughest exams in India. Having graduated from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Abhinav Siwach received an attractive job offer with a package worth lakhs. Although he could have enjoyed the life of luxury, his desire to serve as a civil servant was so strong that he opted to leave the comfortable lifestyle.
Many people would be hesitant to make this kind of decision, but Abhinav Siwach had the courage, discipline, and perseverance necessary to achieve his goal. After passing the highly competitive UPSC examination with an All India Rank (AIR) of 12, Abhinav became a top performer among aspiring IAS officers.
Abhinav hails from Gaurkha Pur village, located in Fatehabad district of Haryana, but later he relocated and moved to the Sector 16-17 area of Hisar. In 2016, he obtained his BTech degree from Delhi Technological University. After this, he went on to pursue an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta. After completing his education, he received an excellent job offer with a high-paying salary of Rs 30 lakh per annum. He held several positions in the field of management consulting, as well as investment banking.
Abhinav envisioned himself as an IAS officer and devoted seven to eight hours a day to studying for the Civil Service Exam. For the UPSC Mains 2022, Abhinav Siwach chose Sociology as his optional subject.
When he took the UPSC 2022 exam, Abhinav Siwach secured an All India Rank (AIR) 12 and became a qualified candidate. Prior to the UPSC exam, Abhinav had previously qualified for the DMIS exam and had obtained 16th rank.
Abhinav dedicated 7 to 8 hours every day towards studying to clear the Civil Services Examinations because of his deep passion for this goal. To focus on preparing him for these Civil Services exams, Abhinav avoided social media. It should also be noted that Abhinav’s father, Satbir Siwach, previously served in DETC, Gurugram, and Abhinav’s uncle previously served as Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Sonipat. He even cleared the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) examination, earning the position of Naib Tehsildar.
Speaking of his UPSC marks, Abhinav Siwach scored 856 marks in the written examination and 185 marks in the personality test. Overall, he scored 1041 marks in the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2022.
On April 12, 2025, IAS officer Abhinav Siwach and IPS officer Ashna Chaudhary shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, accompanied by a picture of them together. “On the day when it will be possible for woman to love not in her weakness but in her strength, not to escape herself but to find herself, not to abase herself but to assert herself–on that day love will become for her, as for man, a source of life and not of mortal danger,” reads IPS officer Ashna Chaudhary’s post.
