Summer Vacation 2024: Several states across the country have announced summer vacation for schools in the wake of rising temperatures and heatwave. Starting from Jharkhand and Maharashtra to Odisha, the schools in these states have been closed and will open after the summer vacation. The early summer vacations for schools have been announced to ensure the well-being of students amid the scorching heatwave.
Some of the schools have also adjusted timings to protect students from the sweltering weather conditions.
Classes up to grade 8 in all schools (government, aided, minority, and private) have been suspended due to the severe heatwave and will open after the vacation is over. However, the classes for grades 9 and above can be held only between 7 am and 11:30 am to avoid peak heat hours.
Maharashtra has declared an early summer vacation for schools due to the heat, starting from April 18th, 2024.
Odisha has also declared summer vacation for schools from April 25th, 2024.
In the similar manner, the West Bengal government has also announced early summer vacation for schools from April 22nd, 2024.
The Bihar government has also announced the early summer vacation for schools for 30 days, from April 15th to May 15th, 2024.
Summer vacation has been announced for Classes 1-9 in Puducherry from April 30th, 2024.
The Chhattisgarh government has also announced summer vacation for schools from April 24th to June 14th, 2024.
The Karnataka government has also announced summer vacation for schools from April 10th to May 15th, 2024.
The Delhi government has also declared early summer vacation for schools from May 11th and will resume classes on June 30th, 2024.
In the similar way, the Uttar Pradesh announced summer vacations for schools from May 21st to June 30th, 2024.
Just like other states, the schools in Rajasthan will be on summer break from May 17th to June 23rd, 2024.
Apart from summer vacations, various states have also issued notices to adjust school timings to ensure students safety from the scorching heat. With this change in school timing, the students can avoid the hottest part of the day and ensure their safety during their commute to and from school.
