New Delhi: In a preventive measure to contain the spread of coronavirus, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has permitted teachers and non-teaching staff of universities, colleges and schools to work from home till March 31. Earlier, the MHRD had directed the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and all other educational institutions in the country to postpone all exams including JEE Main till March 31, or until further notice, in view of coronavirus outbreak. The ministry has requested all teachers and educational institutes to maintain regular communication with students and resolve their queries. Faculty members have been requested to utilize the time the developing content and lesson plans for online teaching and evaluation. Instructional materials for courses will either be offered through online means or in the next semester or term.



The MHRD has also appealed to parents, students, and teachers not to panic.

The total number of active cases of coronavirus in the country has climbed to 324, with the death toll at 6. The latest fatalities were reported from Bihar and Maharashtra. A 38-year-old Bihar man who returned from Qatar and tested positive became the youngest coronavirus death in the country. Meanwhile, in Maharashtra, a 63-year-old coronavirus patient died in Mumbai, taking the death toll in state to 2. Three other deaths were reported from Delhi, Punjab and Karnataka.
