Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission is one of the toughest examinations in India. It is held annually to recruit candidates for the posts of IAS, IPS, IFS, and others. Every year, lakhs of aspirants appear for this exam, however, a handful of eligible candidates pass the three stages of the exam(prelims, mains, and interview). This village in India has earned the nickname “UPSC Factory”. But why? And where is this village located? This village has produced such a remarkable number of IAS, IPS, and PCS officers that people are left stunned upon hearing the statistics.

The name of this village is Madhopatti, located in the Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Situated about 7 kilometers from Jaunpur city, this unassuming village has made a name for itself across the country.

If media reports are to be believed, more than 40 IAS, IPS, and PCS officers have emerged from Madhopatti so far. Many of them are currently serving in high-ranking government positions, bringing pride not only to their village but also to the entire district.

As per reports, Madhopatti has a population of around 4,000 people and is home to nearly 75 households. What makes this village truly unique is that not only the sons, but also the daughters and daughters-in-law have gone on to become civil servants.

It’s said that students here begin preparing for the UPSC exam as soon as they enter college. With strong determination and a focused mindset, they not only build successful careers but also bring pride to their families and their village.

Right after India gained independence, a strong passion for the UPSC exam began to grow among the youth of Madhopatti. In 1952, Indu Prakash Singh became an IFS officer, and in 1955, Vinay Kumar Singh cleared the UPSC to become an IAS officer, later serving as the Chief Secretary of Bihar.

Remarkably, there are also four siblings from this village who all cleared the UPSC exam—some became IAS, others IPS officers. Several IAS officers from Madhopatti have even served in top government offices, including the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). What’s more, many youths from the village have gone on to work at prestigious institutions like ISRO, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, and even the World Bank, further highlighting the village’s incredible legacy of excellence.
