Lucknow, March 20: Currency notes of Rs 500, Rs 100 and Rs 50 were found in answer sheets during the checking of Class 12 Uttar Pradesh (UP) Board examination papers in UP’s Firozabad district. Apart from the currency notes, there were also messages attached to answer sheets. However, teachers checking the papers said they were giving marks on merit basis only. They said that none of the teachers is accepting the money and added that only students who had fared poorly had resorted to such unfair means.

The education system in Uttar Pradesh has been in a sorry state and doesn’t seem to improve much with cases like this coming up on a regular basis. It was also found that the CCTV cameras installed inside the examination centres were not functional as their wires were damaged. However, teachers refused to comment on the same.

This is not the first instance when such a case has been reported. Recently, a video went viral in which a miscreant brandishing a gun could be seen inside an examination hall who facilitated cheating for the students. The incident took place at the Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University in Agra. A probe was initiated by Vice-Chancellor Dr Arvind Kumar Dixit who said that investigation would be carried out with the help of administration and police.

Uttar Pradesh board is likely to release results of class 10 and class 12 examination by the third week of April. The evaluation process has begun and almost 1.46 lakh examiners are said to be involved in the process. The results will be put up on the board’s official website.
