UPSC Civil Services Exam Result 2018 Declared; Kanishak Kataria Secures 1st Rank

The Union Public Service Commission declared the Civil Services examination results 2018 on Friday.

UPSC final exam results: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) declared the results for Civil Services Examination, 2018 written examination on Friday. Candidates who appeared for the examination can check the UPSC final exam results at upsc.gov.in.

Kanishak Kataria, a B Tech from IIT Bombay, has topped the civil services final examination, while Srushti Jayant Deshmukh is the topper among women candidates securing an overall fifth rank. (Full List of Toppers)

According to UPSC, a total of 759 candidates (577 men and 182 women) have been recommended by the Commission for appointment to various services like IAS, IPS, IFS etc.

Kataria belongs to SC category and qualified the examination with mathematics as his optional subject. He is a B Tech (Computer Science and Engineering). “It’s a very surprising moment. I never expected to get the 1st rank. I thank my parents, sister and my girlfriend for the help and moral support. People will expect me to be a good administrator and that’s exactly my intention,” he said.

Meanwhile, Deshmukh is a BE (Chemical Engineering) from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal. She is the topper among the women candidates securing an overall fifth rank. Speaking to the media, she said, “UPSC exam is a long journey where you are committed for 1-1.5 years. My parents, family, friends & teachers supported me, so the credit goes to them. I had decided that my first attempt is my last attempt & I was determined to clear it in one attempt.”

The The Civil Services Written (Main) Examination was conducted from September to October 2018. A total of 10,468 candidates were selected to take up the written exam.

As per the statement released by UPSC, candidates can obtain any information or clarification regarding their examinations and recruitment on the working days between 10:00 AM to 17:00 PM in person or over telephone numbers – 23385271 / 23381125 / 23098543.

The commission also added that the candidates can access the marks obtained by them in the examination within 15 days from the date of declaration of result. The same will be available on the official website.
