UPSC Civil Service IAS Exam Notification 2016 has been released for filling up more than 1000 Group-A and Group-B posts at the official website or Applications are invited for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination only. Minimum Educational Qualifications :The candidate must hold a degree of any of Universities
Nationality (1) For the Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service, a candidate must be a citizen of India. (2) For other services, a candidate must be either:— (a) a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal or a subject of Bhutan.

Age Limits
A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on the 1st of August, 2016.
The upper age-limit for the candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe: 37 years
The upper age-limit for the candidate belongs to a Other Backward Classes: 35 years (Candidates can go through official notification here)

Number of Attempts: Every candidate appearing at the examination who is otherwise eligible, shall be permitted six attempts at the examination.
Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates: No restriction on the attempts (if otherwise eligible).
Other Backward Classes Candidates: Nine attempts (if otherwise eligible).

Scheme of Examination
The Civil Services Examination will consist of two successive stages (vide Appendix I Section-I) (i) Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective type) for the selection of candidates for the Main Examination; and (ii) Civil Services (Main) Examination (Written and Interview) for the selection of candidates for the various Services and posts.
