UPSC Civil Service IAS Exam Notification 2016 has been released for filling up more than 1000 Group-A and Group-B posts at the official website upsc.gov.in or upsconline.nic.in. Applications are invited for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination only. Candidates who are declared by the Commission to have qualified for admission to the Civil Services (Main) Examination will have to apply online again, in the Detailed Application Form which would be made available to them. The Main Examination for UPSC Civil Services IAS is tentatively scheduled to be held in December, 2016. How to apply

Minimum Educational Qualifications :The candidate must hold a degree of any of Universities
Nationality (1) For the Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service, a candidate must be a citizen of India. (2) For other services, a candidate must be either:— (a) a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal or a subject of Bhutan.
A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on the 1st of August, 2016.
The upper age-limit for the candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe: 37 years
The upper age-limit for the candidate belongs to a Other Backward Classes: 35 years (Candidates can go through official notification here)
Number of Attempts: Every candidate appearing at the examination who is otherwise eligible, shall be permitted six attempts at the examination.
Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates: No restriction on the attempts (if otherwise eligible).
Other Backward Classes Candidates: Nine attempts (if otherwise eligible).
Scheme of Examination
The Civil Services Examination will consist of two successive stages (vide Appendix I Section-I) (i) Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective type) for the selection of candidates for the Main Examination; and (ii) Civil Services (Main) Examination (Written and Interview) for the selection of candidates for the various Services and posts.
