Uttar Pradesh, March 9: The Uttar Pradesh Board recently revised its syllabus for Class 9th and 10th students, respectively, and has thus removed the Elementary Mathematics subject, as stated in the NDTV reports. Reportedly, implementation of National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) syllabus has led to the removal of the specific subject. The new syllabus will be implemented from April 2018 with the beginning of the next academic session.
Also, the new syllabus will have a wide array of topics such as number system, algebra, coordinate geometry, geometry, mensuration, and statistics and probability. NDTV reports also stated that no board exam paper for Elementary Mathematics would be held from 2020 onwards.

Elementary mathematics consists of mathematics topics frequently taught at the primary or secondary school levels. It was considered to be easier in comparison to Mathematics in general. Earlier, students had the option of choosing from Mathematics, Elementary Mathematics, as well as Home Science. As for the marking scheme was considered, Mathematics and Elementary Mathematics paper, both had a theoretical paper of 70 marks and a practical for 30 marks.
