He hails from Jammu and Kashmir and was ranked among the top candidates in the 2015 examination.
Born in September 1992 in Anantnag, Kashmir, Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan is a popular IAS officer. He has garnered a following of over 696k on Instagram. His success has inspired many aspiring civil servants, especially from his home state, where he became the first civil servant in his family. Khan resides in IAS Devipura-Mattan village in the Anantnag region of Jammu & Kashmir.
Speaking of his family, his father, Muhammad Shafi Khan, served as a teacher. Athar Aamir Khan attended multiple schools during his early education, including Evergreen Public School and Iqbal Memorial Institute in Anantnag, as well as Tyndale Biscoe School and Biscoe School in Srinagar.
IAS Athar Aamir Khan pursued a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Mandi in Himachal Pradesh after completing his high school education. Inspired to join the civil services, he sought guidance from Shah Faisal, the 2009 UPSC topper from Jammu and Kashmir. Although he received a job offer from the Indian Railway Traffic Service, Athar remained determined to achieve his goal of becoming an IAS officer. With unwavering focus, he appeared for the UPSC exam and secured an impressive All India Rank(AIR) of 2 in his first attempt. Following his training, he was assigned to the Rajasthan cadre as an IAS officer.
IAS Athar Aamir Khan often makes headlines for his personal life. He married IAS Tina Dabi, the 2015 UPSC topper, in 2018 after meeting during their training. However, the couple mutually divorced in 2021.
IAS Athar Aamir Khan currently serves as the Deputy Commissioner of Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir. IAS Athar Aamir Khan married Dr. Mehreen Qazi, a renowned doctor and social media influencer, in October 2022.
