There are several success stories of people who achieved their dream of clearing competitive exams and then left the job to do something else. These decisions did not signify their confused state instead showcased their courage to take a new risk to achieve success. Kamya Mishra a former IPS also has a similar story which can inspire the future generation. Kamya cracked one of the toughest competitive exams of India – UPSC that too in her first attempt. She has been a bright student since her childhood and achieved 98 percent in class 12th to become the regional topper. Here is her inspiring journey.

How Kamyaa Misra Started Her UPSC Journey

After completing her schooling with impressive marks, Kamyaa pursued her graduation from Lady Shri Ram College in Delhi. With her graduation, she simultaneously started her UPSC exam preparation.

With her sheer dedication and hard work Kamyaa cracked the exam on her first try at the age of 22 years. She became Indian Police Service Officer in 2019 with an impressive AIR rank – 172. Not only that, Misra cracked the UPSC exam without any special coaching.

Bihar Cadre And Marriage

At first, she was chosen to serve her duties in Himachal Pradesh, but later, she was shifted to Bihar. In the year 2021, she got married to Awadhesh Saroj, a fellow IPS officer who also serves in Bihar. Awadhesh is an alumnus of the prestigious IIT Bombay and their beautiful wedding ceremony occurred in Udaipur.

Resignation As IPS Officer

Not long ago, she became a topic of discussion when she decided to resign from her established role. She served as the Superintendent of Police in Darbhanga, Bihar, prior to her decision. She made a conscious choice to walk away from her IPS designation to support her family’s enterprise. As the only child, she felt a profound sense of responsibility towards aiding her parents in navigating their business.
