BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi leads the pack of popular Prime Minister candidates. According to a pre-poll survey conducted by Zee Media in association with TALEEM Foundation across the country, almost 46.2 per cent want to see Modi as the Prime Minister of the country. Barring Kerala and Jammu & Kashmir where support for Modi as Prime minister was quite low (12.8 per cent  and 6.7 per cent respectively), all is well for the Gujarat chief minister’s supporters. Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi comes a distant second with less than half the support at 21.2 per cent.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal has gained ground but still has lot of catching up to do.

The surprise backing for Rahul Gandhi came from Modi’s home state of Gujarat where 40.8 per cent preferred him over the BJP leader. voters. Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar who announced that he too was also qualified enough to lead the country also figures in the list with 09 per cent support. Interestingly 17.1 per cent voters indicated “Can’t say” on this question.
