The reality series Rise and Fall, hosted by Ashneer Grover, premiered on 6 September 2025 on Amazon MX Player. Players are divided into “Rulers” and “Workers”, with luxury and deprivation, power shifts, and emotional conflict built into the format.
Aahana Kumra recently addressed her clashes with Dhanashree Verma on Rise and Fall in an interview with The Free Press Journal. She claimed the conflict arose in part because she “had no idea who Dhanashree was”, beyond her being married to cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal.
Aahana said, “First and foremost, knowing somebody for a week does not mean you know that person. I have absolutely no idea who she is. I only knew her because of her marriage… In the first week of knowing her, I never once spoke about her marriage. Not once. I was disinterested. I am not interested in her personal life.”
According to Aahana, yes. She said she believed that perhaps Dhanashree was ready to move on, to “start a new chapter” of her life, so Aahana purposely refrained from mentioning aspects of Dhanashree’s personal life, especially her divorce. She asserted she didn’t label her or treat her as a victim.
She added, “I come from a space where, as a woman, I feel that maybe this person wants to move on and start a new chapter of their life. So I never once spoke about her life… In fact, because she kept mentioning it, I didn’t want to talk about it. And I never labelled her at all.”
On Rise and Fall, Dhanashree Verma stated that she discovered Yuzvendra Chahal cheated on her within two months of their marriage. This triggered a strong response from him. He declared, “I am a sportsperson and I do not cheat. Agar koi two months mein hi cheat karta toh itna lamba relationship chalta kya?… For me, this chapter is over, done and dusted. I have moved forward with my life, and everyone else should do, too.”
He also criticised those who continue to dwell on the past, saying that although their home is still being discussed in his name, he himself has moved on.
