People who grew up in the nineties will remember the craze Aamir Khan had created for his first full-fledged singing attempt in Bollywood. The song was Aati Kya Khandala, a chartbusting number with tapori lyrics that went with his character in the movie Ghulam. Incidentally, the movie propelled Rani Mukerji further in her career. But the real good news for fans is that Aamir is back to his singing now with Dangal!
The actor-filmmaker had attempted some singing or reciting of poetry in Fanaa and Sarfarosh, but he had not rendered an entire song after Aati Kya Khandala. Aamir has decided to do that for Dangal to create a buzz around the movie. We think this will benefit him, as his film is a biopic on wrestler Mahavir Phogat and how he trained his daughters to be wrestlers. Another wrestling movie within a year of the release of Salman Khan’s Sultan is something Aamir has been worried about for a while. Aamir’s publicist tells us that he will also be doing a little bit of rapping in the song in Dangal. The song is composed by Pritam Chakraborty and written by Amitabh Bhattacharya. It is reportedly a fun, peppy number! Hope that fits into a serious film like Dangal well. For all you know, it may not be that serious a film, after all. Remember Shah Rukh Khan’s Chak De! India.
And just like he rehearsed and rehearsed to get his voice right for Aati Kya Khandala with composers Jatin-Lalit, Aamir has been rehearsing for the Dangal number! What we are more interested in is the rap!
