Abhishek Bachchan married Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the love of his life, in a traditional ceremony in 2007. They have been together ever since, and have a daughter named Aaradhya Bachchan. However, for a few months now, internet users have been claiming that marital problems have struck the pair and that Jaya Bachchan and her daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda are at odds with their bahu, Aishwarya. Amidst all the speculations, a video of Abhishek talking about being ‘torn’ between wife and mom has been making waves on social media.
An old, honest discussion between Karan Johar and his popular reality program Koffee With Karan, Abhishek Bachchan and his wife Aishwarya Rai surfaced on social media. It dates back to when the ‘Guru‘ movie co-stars first appeared on the show following their marriage. Abhishek was questioned by the show’s presenter if he ever felt conflicted about choosing between his wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, her sister Shweta Bachchan Nanda, and his mother Jaya Bachchan.
With a wry smile, Abhishek said that all three of the ladies in his life deserved credit. Furthermore, Abhishek spoke about Aishwarya and Jaya’s strong bond. “I think credit has to be given entirely to the girls. I have very little to do with it. What works also is that Maa and her (Aishwarya) are very close. They talk about everything. When a woman first comes to her husband’s house, she feels a bit out of place, evidently and obviously. I think the only person who can truly fill that void is her mother-in-law.”

The video quickly gained prominence on social media. Netizens swamped the comment section inquiring about Abhishek and Aishwarya. One of the users wrote, “The question from Karan was also old fashioned and silly. It’s not like the Bachchans live in a one-room home and are in each others hair! They live in mega mansions and possibly do not meet daily unless they want. So let’s not be close minded, this was an arranged marriage in any case. Maa, Paa and Abhi, Ash were on same page, why be so old fashion about it? You married her, create space for her instead of looking at your parents to make her comfortable.” Another user said, “Somehow over the years she doesn’t look happy..and more fake..Abhishek looks more like a mumma’s boy to me. Anyone would have treated Aish like a queen, but she married him for his surname. I always looked up to Aish in 90s..now I feel Aish lost her charm, wit and even her career after marriage.” The third user said, “My God this guy is a man child – dude it’s ur responsibility to make sure ur wife feels safe n secure n to set a precedent which ur folks follow.”
Aishwarya Rai made a solo appearance at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s Shubh Aashirwad ceremony on July 13. Given that Amitabh Bachchan, Navya Naveli Nanda, and Nikhil Nanda had all attended the event together, this unexpected gesture sparked curiosity. Prior to that, on July 12 at the wedding ceremony, Abhishek opted to appear on the red carpet alongside Amitabh, Jaya, Navya, Shweta, and Nikhil, while Aishwarya posed apart with Aaradhya.
