Actress Pavitra Gowda was arrested by the Bengaluru Police hours after the Supreme Court cancelled the bail of Kannada actor Darshan related to the Renukaswamy murder case. For the uninitiated, on 8 June 2024, Darshan and his allies reportedly murdered Renukaswamy, days after his dead body was found near a canal, half bitten by dogs.
A bench led by Justices J B Pardiwala and R Mahadevan in the Karnataka High Court order. It stated that the case “suffers from serious infirmities.” The Karnataka High Court advised taking the accused into custody on priority. The court further added that Renukaswamy’s murder case should be treated with speed and efficiency.

Apart from actors Darshan and Pavitra, several others linked to the Renukaswamy case were accused of torturing Renukaswamy, who reportedly shared sensual pictures with Pavithra. The Karnataka Police claimed that Renukaswamy was abducted for three days in June 2024 and was later found dead near a drainage. After the Supreme Court rejected Darshan’s bail plea. It further advised the state government against giving additional treatment in prison.
