Looks like there is some respite to Karan Johar and his upcoming film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. Well, following number of threats from Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray and the subsequent decision of the Cinema Owners and Distributors association to screen the movie in theatres and multiplexes, the mood at KJo’s production house Dharma Productions was tense.
Karan Johar just recently spoke to a television channel and apologized to ‘indulging in Pak talent’ in past and promised that he will not work with them again. But Thackeray was not pleased after this apology and said that Karan should have woken up before and that its too late. Yesterday, MNS supporters went to a popular single screen in the city to threaten the owners of vandalism if they screen the movie on Friday October 28. Well, the following this, Mukesh Bhatt, President of the Film and Television Producers Guild of India, met with the Union Minister of India, Rajnath Singh to talk the issue out with him. He told IANS, “We are entertainers. We are interested in working with artistes, and not whether they belong to Pakistan, China or Africa,” Bhatt told the media after meeting Singh. As the head honcho of the producers’ guild, Bhatt had earlier met a Mumbai police representative to appeal for police protection to ensure that the city’s theatres which will screen “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” remain safe.” He also urged that people should be free to watch the movie of their choice. He said, “India is a free country, but at least you should not stop people and then stop people violently. That is something I feel that the government of today should have zero tolerance towards, violence.” (Also Read: Is Karan Johar so stressed out over Ae Dil Hai Mushkil release that he said everything his heart out!)
After the meeting Bhatt spoke to a leading daily and reported, “Rajnathji said he will speak to the chief minister of every state and assured that “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” will release without any violence or issue.”
