Mumbai, October 27: The buzz around Karan Johar’s film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is tremendous, with people going in for advance bookings to catch the film on its release day October 28 itself. But the same cannot be said about Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay it seems, although that film has also good potential with its unique story. As we know, the box office game in Bollywood has its own dynamics, with some movies that deserve a good run flopping while other time-pass ones becoming Rs 100 crore blockbusters. We spoke to Girish Wankhede, Founder of Entity One and National Marketing Head at PVR Pictures, about the big clash this Friday at the BO.

Girish is of the opinion that #ADHM will be blockbuster, and not Shivaay. He said, “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil will get a better response at the box office. It has it all – the right star cast and glamour in Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Fawad Khan; good music by Pritam, and it will be the biggest film of the year.” But isn’t Shivaay also a good family entertainer? At least it seemed so from the trailer, with thrilling action, romance and a father-daughter story. Girish said, “Shivaay is only grand (in scale) but the buzz died down after the initial trailer release. It is purely an action film and although families can watch it together, it will not be as big a hit at the box office as Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.”

Something tells us that this may just come true, but we are hoping that Ajay Devgn and Kajol too get some appreciation for the visible hard work they have put into making Shivaay. Some other trade experts feel that both Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil will get a fair chance at the box office. Cinegoers who dislike mush may go in for Shivaay, but then that film is also not purely action-oriented. So, we shall know only Friday onwards what the box office verdict will be on Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. ALSO READ: Ae Dil Hai Mushkil movie review

But what Girish said about Ae Dil Hai Mushkil becoming the biggest grosser this year may not be true, after all. ADHM has this year’s biggies like Sultan, Airlift, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, FAN to scale at the box office, and so does Shivaay. And then may come the hugest blockbuster at the end of the year – nopes, not Aditya Chopra’s Befikre, but Aamir Khan’s Dangal! The trade expert agrees that Aamir Khan does things his own way and has something unique to offer each time and so may actually surprise people with what he has to offer this Christmas, even though his film is a sports biopic. Meanwhile, the first movie review of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was out, with UAE film critic Umair Sandhu giving a 4-star rating to Karan Johar’s labour of love. The critic says in his Facebook post, “#AeDilHaiMushkil has generated tremendous heat within and outside the film industry. It’s not the star cast alone that has resulted in unparalleled, unmatched and unprecedented craze for the film. It’s also the person seated on the director’s chair that makes Ae Dil Hai Mushkil special. With KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI and KABHI KHUSH KABHIE GHAM, KABHI ALVIDA NAA KEHAN, STUDENT OF THE YEAR his directorial accomplishments, Karan Johar has set such high standards that an all-important question crosses your mind as you walk into the screening. Will Karan surpass his own achievements with Ae Dil Hai Mushkil?” ALSO READ: Ae Dil Hai Mushkil first movie review: Ranbir Kapoor is outstanding; UAE critic gives 4 stars to ADHM! Read full review

Award Worthy Performance..!! #AnushkaSharma is Remarkable yet again. This surpasses her work in all previous films. Her makeup as well as her overall appearance is tremendous. One of the Best Performance by her. #AishwaryaRaiBachachan not only looks gorgeous, but the dedication to her role shows at vital points. She looks Terrific ! #FawadKhan is in Superb form.”
