Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is going through one of the toughest phases of her life right now. Her father, Krishnaraj Rai, is in a serious condition. While Mr. Rai has been in the hospital since the past two weeks, his condition worsened suddenly on Tuesday night. The actress and husband Abhishek Bachchan had to rush to Mumbai’s Lilavati hospital after receiving an emergency call from the hospital authorities. He remains to be on life support system.

Talking exclusively to India.com, a source close to the family shares, “Aishwarya is devastated. She has been extremely close to her father all her growing up years and he is her pillar of strength. To see someone like that in a helpless condition is naturally heartbreaking. She has been spending sleepless nights worrying about her father’s health.” Talking more about the strong and beautiful bond that the father-daughter share, the source revealed, “Aishwarya is what you call a typical ‘papa’s girl’. He has been her go to person. Right from her teenage problems to her career decision and her financial choices – her father Krishnaraj Rai has always been her confidante and a guiding force.”

Not just this, her father has also been Aishwarya’s most trusted relationship advisor. The source further tells us, “Aishwarya’s has had quite a turbulent love life. From disagreements to nasty fights to ugly breakups – she has gone through a lot in her relationships and her father has been her knight in shining armour all this while. In an Indian society, girls are not very open to their dads, especially when it comes to discussing matters of the heart. But Aishwarya and father Krishnaraj share a different bond.” There have also been reports that he was not in favour of her relationship with Salman Khan. We also learn that it was her father who was instrumental in getting Aishwarya and Abhishek get married to each other. “Aishwarya is two years older than Abhishek and also a senior professionally. At the time when marriage was being discussed, she was also more celebrated in the industry than Abhishek. All these factors had her in two minds. Also, her mother was skeptical about the age factor but it was her father who took the decision and gave Aishwarya a go ahead and confidence to take the step and say a ‘yes’ to Abhishek.”

And he didn’t stop playing the ‘relationship advisor’ role post Aishwarya’s marriage. There are several ups and downs that a marriage sees and Aishwarya – Abhishek is no different! There have been times when they have had small issues and disagreements and Ash’s father has stepped in to help her with some perspective. “Ash looks up to her father in such situations.
