Akon’s India Tour 2025 has been drawing massive crowds across the country, but the Bengaluru leg of his tour produced a moment that has now taken over social media for all the wrong reasons. The Senegalese-American singer, known for hit tracks that have dominated global charts for years, performed in Delhi on November 9, followed by Bengaluru on November 14. He is now set to wrap up the tour in Mumbai on November 16.
What should have been a high-energy, memorable night for fans turned uncomfortable when an unexpected incident from the VIP pit left the Internet fuming.
During his performance, a video captured by Instagram user Zumair Khaja showed Akon interacting with the front-row crowd while singing his popular collaboration with David Guetta, Sexy Bitch. But as he moved closer to the VIP barricade, people began tugging at his pants. Throughout the song, Akon could be seen repeatedly pulling them back up while still trying to maintain his composure and continue the performance.
Despite the startling behaviour, Akon stayed calm, kept singing, and did not walk off stage.
Once the clip surfaced online, thousands of users slammed the behaviour, calling it disrespectful and inappropriate. Many described the act as nothing less than harassment.
One user wrote, “This is sad, they were harassing him live on stage. He is an international artist trying to perform for them and they are just harassing him.”
Another commented, “What is this bro? This is highly unacceptable.”
Some also pointed out that Akon appeared to be lip-syncing during parts of the show, but the debate around that quickly took a back seat as the focus shifted to the fan misconduct.
Ahead of the city-wise concerts, Akon had spoken warmly about India and the connection he feels with his audience here. He shared, “India has always shown me so much love — it’s like a second home. The energy, the culture, the fans… It’s on another level. I’m beyond excited to be back and perform live for y’all. This tour is gonna be something special — let’s make history together!”
His heartfelt message has now resurfaced on social media, with netizens expressing sadness that such an incident took place despite his warmth toward the country.
Akon remains one of the most influential global artists, with hits such as Right Now, I Wanna Love You, Smack That, Lonely, Beautiful, Don’t Matter, and the Indian chartbuster Chammak Challo. The Bengaluru mishap has undoubtedly overshadowed the night, but fans hope the Mumbai finale will be a smoother, more respectful experience for the star.
