Bollywood star Akshay Kumar was reportedly detained at the Heathrow airport in London, United Kingdom, on Wednesday, April 6, at 7 am local time. But the actor has apparently denied that he was detained. Reports are flooding the media that actor, who travelled to the UK to shoot for his new film Rustom, was indeed detained at Heathrow for about two hours.
Apparently, Akshay was pulled aside and asked to wait because he was travelling to the UK on a Canadian passport (or visa). The provision allows people to travel to the UK only as a tourist, say reports. Since Akshay was going to be in the UK for 15 days on work, that is to finish his shoot for Rustom, he was reportedly questioned by the airport authorities at Heathrow.
An entertainment website has quoted Akshay Kumar as denying the report and that he was having a valid visa to enter the UK on work. More details are awaited in the case. It may be recalled that Shah Rukh Khan had been detained for hours at an airport in the US right before the release of his film My Name is Khan, because the authorities were on the lookout for an alleged terrorist having the same name.
