Akshay Kumar FINALLY breaks silence on Kartik Aaryan replacing him in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 & 3, says ‘Mujhe…’
It came as a shock when Akshay Kumar was replaced by Kartik Aaryan in the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise. Recently, Akshay Kumar finally opened up about it.
If we’re talking about the best comedy-horror films in our country, it’s just not possible to not mention Bhool Bhulaiyaa. This Anees Bazmee film was a groundbreaking combination of comedy and horror that struck a chord with the audience. The film not only delivered a gripping storyline and unforgettable music but also left a massive mark thanks to the charismatic characters portrayed by its stellar cast, especially Akshay Kumar’s character, Dr Aditya Shrivastava, who was iconic. Therefore, it came as a shock when he was replaced by Kartik Aaryan in the next two instalments of the franchise. Recently, Akshay Kumar finally opened up about why he wasn’t a part of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
Akshay Kumar Breaks His Silence
During a recent interaction with Pinkvilla, a fan revealed that they didn’t watch Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 simply because Akshay Kumar was not part of those films. To this, Akshay Kumar had a candid and humorous response. He said, “Beta, mujhe nikaal diya tha. That’s it.”
About Bhool Bhulaiyaa
The first instalment of Bhool Bhulaiyaa was a remake of the 1993 Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu. In the remake, Akshay Kumar played Dr. Aditya Shrivastava, a psychiatrist who gets entangled in a chilling mystery when a woman, played by Vidya Balan, exhibits signs of dissociative identity disorder and believes she is possessed. The film became a cult classic, beloved for its perfect mix of horror and comedy. Alongside Akshay, the film starred Shiney Ahuja, Ameesha Patel, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Manoj Joshi, Asrani, and Vikram Gokhale.
Kartik Aaryan Stepped Into Akshay’s Shoes
When Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was released in 2022, Kartik Aaryan took over Akshay Kumar’s role, starring alongside Kiara Advani and Tabu. In Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Kartik Aaryan was seen alongside Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit, and Triptii Dimri.
In an older conversation, Kartik Aaryan addressed these comparisons, saying, “I have always been a huge fan of Akshay. I don’t see myself on the same level as him. I’ve watched him since I was a child, so it feels a bit strange to be compared to him. But I think we should do a comedy film together because that has the potential to serve something good to the audience.”
