Recently Vipul Shah had announced his intention of making a sequel to Akshay KumarKatrina Kaif‘s 2007 blockbuster Namastey London, with Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra in the lead roles. The filmmaker had planned to shoot this sequel in the United Kingdom and name it Namastey England, however, new reports suggest that he may not be able to. So now instead of the England, the film is set to be shot in Canada and will be titled Namastey Canada – and the reason is Akshay Kumar.

An insider tells a tabloid, “The project took some time to get finalised and Akshay got busy with other projects, including Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Padman, 2.0 and Gold. So, Vipul signed Parineeti and Arjun for the film. Both, Akshay and Vipul own the Intellectual Property (IP) rights to the Namastey series, and when the filmmaker approached him for the rights, the actor refused to part with the titles Namastey London 2 or Namastey England. He told Vipul that he may want to produce and act in Namastey England later. So, the filmmaker had no choice but to change the title to Namastey Canada.” ALSO READ: Mouni Roy’s Bengali Avatar In Akshay Kumar’s Gold Is Truly Mesmerising

When contacted about this, Vipul told Mid day, “Unfortunately, I can’t talk about it right now. You will have to bear with me for a couple of days till a few things get sorted out. I will make an announcement soon.”

Originally, Shah had planned to cast Akshay Kumar opposite Sonakshi Sinha for the sequel, but Akshay having his plate full already, couldn’t provide the dates for the film. Vipul decided to go ahead anyway with Arjun Kapoor instead, but Sonakshi Sinha opted out as well, in turn reuniting Arjun Kapoor – Parineeti Chopra once again.
