Akshay Kumar Opens Up About The Controversy Surrounding The Indian National Flag

The actor along with the entire star cast of Toilet:Ek Prem Katha was at en event today, promoting the movie

Over the weekend, Akshay Kumar reportedly got embroiled into a controversy of holding the Indian National Flag upside down at the Women’s World Cup final at Lord’s stadium in London. As soon as his picture went viral on the internet, he was criticised for the same. Soon thereafter, the actor apologised and removed the picture from his social networking site.  “Extending my sincerest apology for violating the code of conduct for the tricolor. Didn’t mean to offend anyone, the picture has been removed,” the 49-year-old actor tweeted.

However, at a promotional event held today in PVR Juhu for his upcoming movie, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Akshay was asked about the controversial issue to which he responded apologetically, “Main flag khol raha tha aur kisi ne tabhi peeche se kheech liya photo. Akshay was present along with Bhumi Pednekar, Anupam Kher and Pyaar Ka Punchnama fame Divyendu Sharma at the event today.

Not just Akshay but even the movie, ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ has been engulfed in a series of controversies. Post the trailer’s release on June 11, there was buzz about the movie being a copy of the short film, Manini, followed by fresh allegations that the song, Hans Math Pagli, was taken from a regional film. Besides, the movie came under the radar, once again,when Anita Narre, the girl who inspired ‘Toilet:Ek Prem Katha’ demanded royalties from the movie’s Box Office Collection and denied to sign an agreement offered by the makers. Amid all this, there’s no denying the fact that the movie has raised our expectations from the start with its interesting story line and melodious songs. Helmed by Shree Narayan Singh, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, deals with the need of sanitisation in India and is based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat campaign. The movie is set to hit screens on August 11.
