The film and dance world bid farewell to veteran actress‑dancer Madhumati, who passed away on October 15, 2025, at the age of 87. Known for her grace, artistry, and unforgettable screen presence, her death has left a void that’s being felt across Bollywood and beyond.
Madhumati was celebrated for her performances in classic films like Ankhen, Tower House, Shikari, and Mujhe Jeene Do. She was also widely compared to the legendary Helen for her dance style and screen aura. Over the years, she became a mentor to many, including superstar Akshay Kumar, who often referred to her as his “guru” of dance. Meanwhile, tributes poured in swiftly as Akshay Kumar shared rare pictures and heartfelt words that read, “My first and forever guru. Everything I know about dance, I learnt at your feet, Madhumati ji. Har ada, har expression mein aapki yaad hamesha saath rahegi. Om Shanti.” Vindu Dara Singh also honored her memory, calling her a teacher and guide who touched the lives of many dancers and artists.

She married Deepak Manohar at a young age but continued to pursue her passion for performance. After Deepak’s passing in 2002, Madhumati persisted in her dedication to dance, establishing the Madhumati Dance Academy in Mumbai. Through her school, she shared her expertise, discipline, and passion with numerous students, leaving a lasting impact on the world of dance.
