Mahesh Bhatt has announced his plans to remake Sadak and the original leads Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt playing pivotal roles. However, in Sadak 2, he wanted a young couple to take the lead. While Alia Bhatt was chosen as the leading lady, buzz was that Sidharth Malhotra will come on board to complete the gang. However, when rumours about a breakup started doing the rounds, it put a question mark on the fate of Sadak 2. Around the same time, there were also speculations that the two might not star in Mohit Suri’s Aashiqui 3.

However, this was soon followed by reports that while Alia and Sidharth’s relationship may have gone kaput, they are thorough professionals and will not let their work commitments suffer due to their personal equations. Does that mean Sadak 2 is also on anvil? Zee Network’s crew tried to dig on this front at a recent event where Mahesh Bhatt was present.

We asked the filmmaker about the developments on his ambitious plans to remake the 1991 romantic thriller. But the ace director who is known to speak his mind and never shy from expressing his opinions unabashedly, surprised us when he chose to walk away pretending that he hasn’t heard the question. Bhatt Sr. avoided to talk about Sadak 2 and the progress around it or the reason behind the delay. If the project now shelved in the absence of a dream lead pair thanks to Alia – Sidharth breakup? Mahesh Bhatt left many questions unanswered.

Bhatt was attending the book launch of ‘Aawarapan’, penned by lyricist Sayeed Quadri who has worked with the Bhatts on films like Jism, Murder 1 and 2, Gangster, Jannat 1 and 2, Woh Lamhe, Raaz – The Mystery Continues amongst others.
