Finally, after a long wait, Diljit Dosnajh’s highly-anticipated film Amar Singh Chamkila has hit the OTT giant Netflix. The movie was released on April 12, 2024. Helmed by Imtiaz Ali, the movie features Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra in lead roles. The movie is based on a singer Amar Singh, who rose to fame overnight However, He faces both rapid success and harsh criticism before he dies suddenly.
As the film has hit the OTT giants, the reviews for the film have started to pour in. After watching the film, a fan wrote, “Just watched the #Chamkila. Meanwhile, in an interview with News18 Showsha back in March, Imtiaz expressed that he found it difficult to envision anyone other than Diljit and Parineeti in the starring roles in the film. The director said, “It was mandatory for me to cast actors who are singers as well. It was important for them to sing live. This film wouldn’t have been possible without them.”
Imtiaz further added, “It’s not like Diljit didn’t train a lot like Parineeti did but he does live singing and is used to it. They both recorded the songs after singing them live. The reason behind this is that I’ve never had singers singing live during a shot. I thought that in case, the live singing doesn’t work out, we can always use the recorded version and use it as playback like we usually do.”
