Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan are currently the most searched couple on the internet amid their divorce rumours. Since there are multiple media reports about the couple parting ways, netizens have been closely watching every step of the Bachchan family including Aishwarya Rai. While there are multiple videos and statements of the couple sparking divorce rumours have once again resurfaced on social media. Adding more fuel to the rumours is one such video of Jaya Bachchan announcing her future daughter-in-law and it’s not Aishwarya but Karisma Kapoor.
In the viral video Jaya Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan, Shweta Nanda, Abhishek, and Navya Naveli are seen at the book launch event. However, it was Jaya Bachchan who stole the spotlight after making a surprising announcement of her future bahu. In the video, Jaya announced adding one more person to extend the Bachchan family and it was none other than Karisma Kapoor. For the unversed Karisma Kapoor is the daughter of Randhir and Babita Kapoor who was engaged to Abhishek Bachchan at that very moment.
In the viral video, Jaya open-heartedly welcomed her future bahu, Karisma Kapoor to the Bachchan family. As Jaya welcomed Karisma, she hugged her and then stood along with the Bachchan family for the paparazzi. Many may not know that before marrying Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek announced engagement with Karisma Kapoor in 2002 on the occasion of Amitabh Bachchan’s 60th birthday. Although being an old video, it still sparks divorce rumours of Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan and netizens engaging in speculations.

An Instagram user penned, “I think Karisma would have faced same what Aishwarya is facing .. it’s a powerful family with a lot of unity between and amongst the Bachchans… it’s hard and challenging to survive. Strong women can not handle such families as they take a step and speak for themselves. I guess an arranged marriage would have been best for Jr Bachchan… someone from a business background, simple.” Another commented, “Karishma had a great escape… Poor Aish.” The third comment read, “Karishma missed the happiness of life after this… Abhishek is a well-cultured person. Everything is not money.” The fourth comment read, “This would have been the best decision for both of them.”
Abhishek Bachchan and Karisma Kapoor’s engagement was called off there has been no reason why the engagement ended. According to media reports, there might have been a potential disagreement with Bachchan’s family. Another rumour out there was that Jaya wanted Karisma to stop doing films after marriage, to which Karisma’s mother didn’t agree. Later in 2003, Abhishek Bachchan got engaged to Aishwarya Rai.
