It was a night of shimmer, grace, and sheer artistry at the Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI Grand Finale, as actor Aneet Padda, known for her performance in Saiyaara, closed the show for celebrated designer Tarun Tahiliani. Dressed in a breathtaking golden-beige ensemble, the actress brought a regal charm to the ramp, perfectly blending traditional aesthetics with a touch of modernity.
Aneet’s outfit had intricate shimmering crystal work and flowing textures that captured every beam of light as she walked. Her confident yet calm presence elevated Tahiliani’s vision of the “India Modern” woman, elegant, poised, and deeply rooted in heritage.
Take a look here:
What made Tarun Tahiliani’s ‘Bejewelled’ collection stand out?
Tarun Tahiliani’s collection, aptly titled “Bejewelled,” was a grand celebration of craftsmanship, tradition, and contemporary design. The show opened with black and gold armour-like jackets, kimonos, and jewel-printed bombers, transitioning into draped dresses, chiffons, and satins in jewel-inspired shades of emerald, aubergine, amethyst, and ruby.
Pearls and metallic accents appeared as belts, bags, and talismans, symbolic treasures carried close to the body. The finale saw metallic crushed tissues in dull gold, rose, and silver, embodying both fluidity and structure.
The official Lakme Fashion Week Instagram handle described the collection as “a metaphor for light, transformation, and timeless Indian glamour,” adding, “To be bejewelled in India is to be adorned not only with gems but with memory, craft, and the textures of the land itself.”
What was Tarun Tahiliani’s inspiration behind the collection?
Speaking to ANI, Tarun Tahiliani shared the cultural inspiration behind his designs. “I wanted to show that in India, even as we evolve towards Western styles, our roots remain strong. Whether it’s our grandmothers or women in rural India, they still wear bangles, bindis, and small adornments; these are expressions of Indianness we must not lose.”
He emphasised that the collection celebrates Indian identity while embracing modern silhouettes. The result was a line that fused heritage with restraint and western construction, embodying his vision of “India Modern.”
What did Tarun Tahiliani say about Aneet Padda?
The designer couldn’t stop praising his showstopper. “She’s very young and innocent and beautiful. I had only seen a photograph of her, and she’s everything I heard and more. I told Lakme what a wonderful brand ambassador she is; she’s innocent, nothing jaded, and was so nervous backstage that I had to make her take deep breaths. She was charming,” Tahiliani shared with a smile.
Aneet’s effortless elegance and genuine personality seemed to mirror the very spirit of the Bejewelled collection, radiant yet rooted.
What else happened at Lakme Fashion Week?
The Lakme Fashion Week, held from October 8 to 12, featured India’s most visionary designers and emerging talents. The grand finale, Tarun Tahiliani’s showcase, was the perfect culmination of five days of high fashion, celebrating craftsmanship, sustainability, and artistic innovation.
For Aneet, it marked a defining moment in her rising career, a step from the silver screen to the fashion runway, embodying confidence, elegance, and the evolving face of modern Indian womanhood.
