After the shutdown of theatres across the country due to increasing cases of coronavirus, the makers of Angrezi Medium have decided to re-release the film later. As per a report in News18, the director of the film – Homi Adajania– took to his Instagram stories to reveal that the team has decided to release Angrezi Medium again in cinema halls once the normalcy is back in the country. The post in Homi’s Instagram stories read, “At midnight all theatres will close across India till the authorities give us further notice. We will re-release Angrezi Medium when it is safe to do so. It was on Thursday evening that the Delhi government announced a complete shutdown on cinema halls in the capital. The decision was eventually followed by the state government of Mumbai, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Gujarat and the UT of J&K. On Friday, when the Irrfan Khan starrer was released, it opened to a single-digit figure of Rs 4 crore which showed just how much the coronavirus outbreak in the country affected the film industry. The decision of closing down of theatres across the country also affected the release of the new films. While the collections of Baaghi 3 seemed affected, the release dates of Sooryavanshi, Sandeep Aur Pink Faraar and Mohanlal’s Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham got pushed to further dates.



Amid this partial shutdown in the country, the film industry is estimated to incur a loss of Rs 800 crore because of delay in release, suspended shootings of films and the closing down of theatres. Read the detailed report here.
