In the ever-evolving world of showbiz, many actors come and go, but a few rare gems remain etched in the hearts of admirers long after they are gone. One such example of this is ate veteran actor Asrani. From his expressive eyes and impeccable comic timing to his unforgettable role, his contribution to Indian cinema remains unmatched. Now, as Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 is all geared up for its release, this film will be a tribute to Asrani.

Recently, director Anukalp Goswami opened his heart and recalled not just the privilege of working with the legendary artist, but also a moment so pure and special that it stayed with him forever

Speaking about collaborating with the iconic actor, Anukalp said, “It was amazing to work with Asrani ji. It was like a dream come true for me.”

The director shared how deeply Asrani had influenced him as a child. He shared, “When Sholay was released, dialogues used to come on cassettes. I would listen to them and mimic Asrani, sir.”

He further added, “So when I was narrating his scene to him, I started imitating him and narrating the script in his style. Suddenly, he started looking at me, and I realised I was mimicking him. A look was exchanged between us, and we both smiled. Then he patted me on the shoulder and said, ‘Continue.’ I narrated the whole sequence to him.”

Goswami on Asrani’s performance and personality

Speaking about his performance and personality, he said, “He has done fabulous work in the film, and when you see it, you’ll remember him always. He was also from Jaipur, so we shared a special connection. He was a fabulous actor and an amazing personality.”

Asrani’s Death: End of a Glorious Chapter

Asrani, one of Indian cinema’s most beloved comic icons, entertained audiences for over five decades. He passed away in Mumbai at 84, and his last rites were performed at Santacruz Crematorium. He is survived by his wife, sister and nephew.

Apart from Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, he will also be seen posthumously in Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis, alongside Dharmendra, a final treasure for fans who have adored him for years.
