A recent moment from a filmmaker’s discussion has once again set social media buzzing, putting film critic Anupama Chopra back in the spotlight amid fresh trolling. A short clip featuring Saiyaara director Mohit Suri praising Dhurandhar has gone viral, largely because the appreciation came during a roundtable hosted by Chopra herself, who had earlier criticised the film. The contrast between opinions has triggered strong reactions online.
Mohit Suri appeared at a Directors’ Roundtable where filmmakers were asked about the last film they watched in theatres that truly impressed them. Without hesitation, Suri named Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar. In the now-viral clip, he said, “I saw Dhurandhar last week. I enjoyed it. I really did. I think it’s out there. It’s aggressive. I enjoyed it.” His candid response instantly caught attention, especially because it came in front of a critic who had earlier panned the film.

Anupama Chopra had previously reviewed Dhurandhar and described it as an exhausting, relentless espionage thriller driven by excessive testosterone, shrill nationalism, and inflammatory themes. The review faced massive backlash from audiences, following which the video was removed. With Mohit Suri’s praise now circulating widely, netizens began revisiting her criticism, leading to another wave of online trolling.
The clip quickly became meme material. Several users joked about how the camera avoided showing Anupama Chopra’s reaction while Mohit Suri praised the film. Comments ranged from sarcastic digs to humorous exaggerations, with one meme reading, “O ho ho ho! Ye karara prahaar,” while another joked about turning film discussions into local train seat fights. Many users also praised Mohit Suri, calling him “genuine” for openly appreciating the film despite the setting.

Amid the renewed trolling, users also resurfaced an earlier post by actor Paresh Rawal, who had reacted strongly to Anupama Chopra’s review soon after the film’s release. On X, Rawal had written, “Aren’t you tired of being Miss Irrelevant?” The sharp remark once again became part of the online conversation, intensifying the debate.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. The high-octane spy thriller continues to dominate theatres and social media alike. The film has so far amassed Rs 745 crore worldwide and is currently heading towards the Rs 500 crore mark at the domestic box office, making it one of the biggest surprising blockbusters of 2025.
