Mumbai: Anupamaa enjoys a vast viewership in India. The audience finds the unpredictable storyline and the lead role of Anupama, played by Rupali Ganguly, fascinating. While Anupama’s life and struggles remain central, the actors who bring other characters to life have also carved a niche for themselves with their performances. A case in point is Vanraj Shah, a character played by Sudhanshu Pandey, whose mix of virtues and flaws has won over the audience. Sudhanshu Pandey humorously dismissed speculation of preferential treatment from the producers of the popular show Anupamaa in a conversation with Siddharth Kannan. He comically stated that if there were any truth to these claims, he would’ve been the one portraying the titular character Anupama, rather than Rupali Ganguly.
When asked if he had ever contemplated parting ways with the renowned show that skyrocketed his fame, Sudhanshu acknowledged the query and said, “Nahi, aisa toh nahi hua. Aisa kabhi nahi hua. Anupamaa chhordne ka toh maine kabhi kisiko bola bhi nahi, na kabhi aisa socha. Mujhe aisa lagta hai ki jis show ko humne banaya hai, itna khoon-paseena, mehnat karke humne uss show ko… Vanraj Shah ka character jo hai puri duniya mei itna iconic ban chuka hai (No, I have never thought of leaving the show. I have not said anything like that to anybody, nor have I ever thought of it. I think when we have put so much hard work to make this show, today Vanraj Shah’s character has become such an iconic character) (sic).”
Sudhanshu once pointed out that the appeal of Anupamaa is largely due to its backdrop of an everyday, middle-class family. This reality-based context struck a chord with viewers, making them relate easily to the personal stories and the characters involved.
Sudhanshu Pandey has a rich career history, gracing countless films and TV productions like Jersey, Singh Is Kinng, and Singham over the years. He’s not only beloved for his acting chops – his fans adore his singing talents too. Interestingly, Sudhanshu wasn’t just a solo star; once upon a time, he was part of a music group called the Band of Boys.
