Arjun Kapoor Beats Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapor, Varun Dhawan To Bag Lead Role In Arjun Reddy Hindi Remake

Arjun Kapoor to play lead in Arjun Reddy Hindi remake

While Ranveer Singh is already on board the Hindi remake of Telugu film Temper, titled Simmba, he was also being considered to play the male lead in yet another Bollywood remake of Tollywood’s Arjun Reddy. The Padmaavat actor was the first choice of director Sandeep Vanga. However, due to his prior commitments, the Gully Boy couldn’t come on board. There were reports of Shahid Kapoor and Varun Dhawan also being considered. And now, fresh reports state that Arjun Kapoor has bagged the role in this dark entertainer.

The film will be on the lines of Rockstar meets Dev.D and producer Murud Khetani (Mickey Virus fame) has bagged the remake rights. Sources say that the director of the original film might be roped in to call the shots for the Hindi remake as well. Arjun Reddy has got an A certificate from the CBFC and the Hindi version will also be dark, with an intense love story targeted towards niche audience. The Telugu film starred Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey in lead roles where Vijay played a brilliant medico. His anger management issues spell doom for his love life. Reportedly, Arjun Kapoor and his producers are set to meet to discuss the project further by the end of this month. That’s also when the lead actress would be decided. We can expect an official statement by February 2018. If all works well, this will be Arjun’s first dark role and give him opportunity to show the audience his acting range.
